In Viridian Notes 00203 and 00208, we Viridians were attempting to locate the graphic designer behind bp's new "Helios" logo. This is of core interest to us because Sir John Browne's $200 billion energy megalith is the only Big Oil major with a lick of common sense about the Greenhouse Effect.

We have met with success!

The original draft of this marvelous logo was composed == on a screen, naturally == by Jeanette Hodge, an independent designer and Landor Associates subcontractor in glamorous San Francisco.

By an odd coincidence (perhaps no real coincidence at all) Jeanette Hodge is also the Creative Director for "dwell" magazine. Link: http://www.dwellmag.com

Dwell is a fine publication for which I've been doing some rather extensive work lately, notably their "House of the Future" issue. I was therefore able to call Jeanette H. up at her office, have a nice chat, and confirm that she did in fact draw the thing. Though certain refining activities were carried out on her basic design by the personnel of Landor Associates, Jeanette just plain made that logo up. She is indeed the person we have been seeking.

ALL HAIL THE WONDROUS JEANETTE HODGE!

A special Viridian thanks to noted designer John Berry (typographer@earthlink.net^^^*) whose extensive professional network has demonstrated just how small the design world really is.
